One shoot, every channel: sizing your product images right

Every channel has a shape it rewards. Fight it and your image gets letterboxed, cropped through the product, or quietly down-ranked. Plan for it and one library covers them all.

01Know the native ratios

Instagram feed favours 4:5; Reels and TikTok want full-screen 9:16; marketplace listings are square 1:1; landing-page heroes are wide 16:9; Pinterest leans tall 2:3. Email sits comfortably around 3:2.

You don't need seven separate shoots for that. You need one composition with enough room around the subject to crop in every direction.

02Shoot for the widest and the tallest

If a frame holds up as both a 9:16 vertical and a 16:9 horizontal, everything in between is easy. Keep the product off dead-center, leave breathing room top and bottom, and keep the essential detail away from the edges.

03Deliver a set, not a file

The finished output should be the same look, pre-cropped and framed for each destination, so the team ships instead of re-editing. That's the whole point of one shoot: it should arrive already ready for everywhere it needs to go.
